The beautiful mural which has now graced the back wall of
Salems high school gym for nearly a decade was painted by former Salem graduate,
Scott Lenhardt. The staff at www.salemgeneralsnews.com
has photographed this piece and used it as the background for their "sports"
page.

Since completing the mural in 1994 (his senior year), Scott has had a great amount of
success in his art career. He has been designing snowboards for the Burton Corporation
since he was in high school. Continuing this effort, he attended Portland College of Art
in Portland, Maine. During one semester in this institution, he studied abroad in Italy,
viewing and analyzing the famous murals that were completed by legends such as
Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci.
He has been an extremely giving artist throughout his career, completing the mural at
Salem Central free of charge. He is now a free-lancing artist living in Vermont, doing
work that involves everything from designing store windows to making album covers for
bands. He is most likely the most talented artist to pass through this school, as he has
left an impact here in Salem.
