By: David DeMarco 4/21/08 After losing their first game in the Greenwich Tournament 5-4 to Watervliet, the boys from Salem were in need of a confidence booster – and one was on the way. It had been a long hot day and both ball clubs were obviously tired going into the game, but Schoharie’s lack of a solid pitching staff played off in Salem’s favor. Led by a two-out grand slam off the bat of Dylan Miller, Salem’s offense picked up the slack after a three-game drought littered with K’s and easy-outs. Schoharie’s pitching staff just could not contain the onslaught; the Generals went on to win the game 16-1, and broke even going 1-1 in the Greenwich Tournament.
Generals Baseball: Chomping at the Bit By: David DeMarco 3/11/08 The snow is melting; the birds are chirping; the sun is staying out past seven o’clock – this can only mean one thing: springtime is here again. When a Generals fan hears the words "spring" and "time" used together, only one sport comes to mind: baseball! That’s right, ladies and gentleman, baseball is here again and the Salem Generals are itching for some competition. After suffering an upsetting loss in last year’s game at Joe Bruno Stadium, the Generals are boasting a roster stacked with returning seniors – including team ace and varsity veteran, Dylan Miller. |
